Terms & Privacy

Global Twin Cities is a small, volunteer-run community. These are the terms you agree to when you join, and a plain-language explanation of what happens to your information.

Terms of use

  • You must be at least 16 years old to join.
  • Follow the ground rules: be kind, argue with ideas rather than people, and check with us before posting ads or fundraising appeals.
  • Post only things you have the right to share, and never post anything that could identify or endanger another person without their permission.
  • You keep ownership of what you post. By posting, you let Global Twin Cities display it on this site to the audience you chose.
  • We may remove posts or accounts that break these rules or put other members at risk.
  • Global Twin Cities is provided as-is, without guarantees, by volunteers.

Privacy

  • What we collect: your name, email address and password, plus whatever you choose to add to your profile, posts, photos and messages. All profile fields beyond your name are optional.
  • Who can see it: you choose. Posts in open Spaces are public; posts in members-only Spaces are visible only to that Space’s members; each photo, album and profile field has its own visibility setting. Private messages are seen only by the people in the conversation, though site administrators can technically access the database.
  • Member blogs: published blog posts are public and may also be shared to the wider “fediverse” (Mastodon and similar networks).
  • Photos: GPS location data is automatically removed from photos you upload.
  • Where it is stored: on servers in France (Hostinger), under European privacy law. Site emails are sent through Brevo, also in the EU.
  • What we never do: no advertising, no selling or sharing your information with marketers, and no tracking across other websites.
  • Cookies: only the ones needed to keep you logged in and remember your settings.
  • Leaving: you can ask us to delete your account and your content at any time.
